Installation

Installing WIRE takes three steps. An account administrator runs a short SQL script before and after the Marketplace install.

1. Before installing: create a warehouse and a role to own the app.
2. Install WIRE from Snowflake Marketplace, as the wire_sysadmin role created in step 1.
3. After installing: grant the app access to Cortex AI and give your users access to the app.

Both scripts need ACCOUNTADMIN. The post-install grants are database roles in the shared SNOWFLAKE database, which no other role can grant.

Application name

These pages call the installed app wire_native_app. You choose the name when you install, so substitute the name you used.

Before you begin

• Check your region. Your Snowflake account must be in a region where Cortex AI functions are available. The setup scripts can't change this.
• You don't need an event table. WIRE shares no telemetry unless you opt in. See Telemetry and privacy.

Install from Marketplace

1. In Snowsight, switch to the wire_sysadmin role.
2. Open Marketplace, search for WIRE, and select the listing.
3. Select Get, choose a name for the application, and select the wire_xs_wh warehouse.
4. Wait for the install to finish, then continue to After installing.

Install as wire_sysadmin, not ACCOUNTADMIN

Whichever role installs the app becomes its owner. Installing as wire_sysadmin keeps day-to-day administration out of ACCOUNTADMIN.
